Recorded on 1 September 2001 at Slane Castle on the band's featured stop in County Meath, Ireland, it was released on DVD in November 2003. Björk ‎ - Live at Royal Opera House (2001)

Björk ‎ - Live at Royal Opera House (2001)
Live at Royal Opera House is an official DVD released by Björk on 18 November 2002. It contains a live performance by Björk on the Vespertine tour, recorded live at the Royal Opera House in London, England on 7 December 2001. It was amongst one of the last of the concerts performed on that tour. With this concert Björk had become the first ever contemporary pop artist to perform in the Royal Opera House. The concert was exclusively premiered on UK television in the launch week of the BBC digital channel BBC Four on 12 March 2002. For the first half of the concert the majority of the songs were taken from her then most recent album Vespertine, while the second half sees songs played from her previous solo albums. The closing song "It's in Our Hands" (which was then previously unheard) was later released as the lead-off single from her Greatest Hits album. The track "Generous Palmstroke" is a B-side, and appears in a different form on the "Hidden Place" single. Although listed as "Frosti", the first song of the concert is actually a music box version of "Pagan Poetry", as it appears on the "Cocoon" single. The DVD (and television broadcast) omits performances of two songs that were performed on the night - "Play Dead" and "Bachelorette". A mini-documentary "Touring Vespertine" is also included as a bonus feature, a working version of what was to become the Minuscule DVD. However, the Minuscule documentary does not include some material which is included on "Touring Vespertine", such as the short interviews with composer Simon Lee (who was part of the Vespertine tour).

Johnny Cash - The Anthology (2001)

Johnny Cash - The Anthology (2001)
Sure, Johnny Cash is a country superstar and a founding father of rock & roll--but why, exactly? Johnny Cash: The Anthology is an efficient and highly enjoyable effort to answer that question through a rare historical perspective. Comprised of a 54-minute documentary and a supplementary film entitled Half Mile a Day, The Anthology places Cash dead center at the junction of gospel and blues traditions: between the isolation of hard living in America, delusional guilt from too much sin, and the fragile redemption of love. Drawing upon archival footage of Cash performing his earliest crossover hits ("Five Feet High and Risin'," "I Walk the Line") and including comments by admiring peers (Rodney Crowell, Porter Wagoner), The Anthology makes a compelling case for Cash as a master of knife-edged economy and a populist oracle from a younger, perhaps scarier, America. If it has become too easy over the decades to take Cash for granted, The Anthology sets things straight. --Tom Keogh

Johnny Cash is one of the most imposing and influential figures in the history of music. Emotional and real, his deep baritone voice and percussive guitar style created a bridge among various genres of music and earned him induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This special collection includes two programs--"Johnny Cash: The Anthology" (54 min.) and "Half Mile a Day" (89 min.)--which detail the incredible six-decade career of this 10-time Grammy winning artist through performances, rare archival footage and photos. Scoring over 100 hit singles during his career, "Johnny Cash: The Anthology" takes viewers on a journey which begins with the 1950s hit "Cry, Cry, Cry" and continues through the 1990s classic "Bird on a Wire." Songs: Cry Cry Cry, Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk the Line, Orange Blossom Special, Five Feet High and Risin', Big River, Ring of Fire, Jackson, A Boy Named Sue, Daddy Sang Bass, Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down, The Man in Black, If I Were a Carpenter, Bird on a Wire. 143 minutes.

The Band - The Last Waltz (1976)

The Band - The Last Waltz 1976

The Last Waltz was a concert by the rock group The Band, held on American Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. The Last Waltz was advertised as The Band's "farewell concert appearance",[1] and the concert saw The Band joined by more than a dozen special guests, including Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood, Bobby Charles, Neil Young, Neil Diamond and The Staple Singers. The musical director for the concert was The Band's original record producer, John Simon.

The event was filmed by director Martin Scorsese and made into a documentary of the same name, released in 1978. Jonathan Taplin, who was The Band's tour manager from 1969-1972 and later produced Scorsese's film Mean Streets, suggested that Scorsese would be the ideal director for the project and introduced Robbie Robertson and Scorsese. Taplin was the Executive Producer of The Last Waltz. The film features concert performances, scenes shot on a studio soundstage and interviews by Scorsese with members of The Band. A triple-LP soundtrack recording, produced by Simon and Rob Fraboni, was issued in 1978. The film was released on DVD in 2002 as was a four-CD box set of the concert and related studio recordings.

Joe Cocker Live - Across from Midnight Tour (1997)

Joe Cocker Live - Across from Midnight Tour 1997
Filmed in Berlin in 1997, this good-looking production finds the aging bluesman mixing his classic covers with more recent material, all for an appreciative audience in a startlingly dramatic venue. Warming up with "Could You Be Loved" and "Feeling Alright," Cocker soon finds his footing and launches into the Scotch whiskey soul of "Have a Little Faith," the kinky comedy of "You Can Leave Your Hat On," and the gospel-flushed agony of "When the Night Comes." A take on Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic" is welcome, while "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" mines the old Animals chestnut for further blues testimony. The crumpled valentine of "You Are So Beautiful" is touchingly familiar and dedicated, on this occasion, to the late Princess Diana. In all, Cocker is in very good, professional form here, a tempered force of nature, perhaps, but an expressive stylist of mature conviction. --Tom Keogh
Joe Cocker's Across From Midnight captures his 1997 performance at Waldbuhne, Berlin. His 17-song, 86-minute performance includes hits like "Feelin' Alright," "Up Where We Belong," "You Are So Beautiful," and "You Can Leave Your Hat On." Inspired cover choices such as "The Letter," "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and "Into the Mystic" round out an entertaining set list.

John Mayall - 70th Birthday Concert (2003)

John Mayall - 70th Birthday Concert (2003)
70th Birthday Concert is a live Electric blues video recording of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers to celebrate Mayall's 70th Birthday. Recorded in Liverpool, England on July 19 2003, the concert was notable as it featured Eric Clapton as a guest, so marked the first time he and Mayall had performed together in almost 40 years. The set also features Mick Taylor and Chris Barber.

It's a warm summer's Saturday night, July 19, 2003 in Liverpool England and the eager audience patiently waits. In celebration of John Mayall's 70th birthday and for the benefit of UNICEF's fight against child exploitation, The Bluesbreakers (TOM CANNING, HANK VAN SICKLE, JO YUELE AND BUDDY WHITTINGTON) kick off with "Jacksboro Highway." After a few more numbers the place erupts as John Mayall appears to a standing ovation. The Godfather of British Blues has arrived and straight away he's playing fantastic harmonica and keyboards. Then (and after 38 years since they first played together) the "friends" and soul mates are reunited to a tumultuous reception as ERIC CLAPTON appears on stage. Joining them is MICK TAYLOR and British Blues pioneer, CHRIS BARBERAS as they blast through nearly 21/2 hours of stunning blues. From blues standards to classics from the "Beano" album and on to contemporary Bluesbreakers material, an ecstatic Liverpool crowd laps up one of the finest nights of blues this millennium.

Tom Jones: Live at Cardiff Castle (2001)

Tom Jones: Live at Cardiff Castle [DVD] 2001

Recorded in July 2001, Tom Jones's high-voltage return to his roots in Live at Cardiff Castle, featuring more than two hours of hits spanning four decades, certainly set the grounds of Cardiff Castle--and 10,000 fans--alight. As a singer, Jones has always played a canny game. He's proved particularly adept at reinventing himself as an avuncular costar for today's young singers, bumping and grinding through hip-hop and rhythm and blues without neglecting the brassy novelty numbers which set him on the path to stardom back in the 1960s. The voice has survived the years virtually intact. Subtlety was never exactly a Tom Jones trademark and everything is attacked with the stops full out. All the hits are here: "Delilah" and "What's New Pussycat" are interspersed with "Burning Down the House" and a "Sex Bomb" which really zips along. The hips might not be as snake-like as they once were and the pouring sweat is testimony to the effort required by gyrations which would test a much younger man. But when he sails into "The Green Green Grass of Home", it sounds like a deserved paean both to his staying power and a charisma which genuinely appeals across the generations. --Piers Ford
